So now what...

Its been awhile since my whole experience. Life is nearly identical to the way I left it here. It's not going to be an easy thing to remember everything I have learned and keep those experiences as applied parts of my life. Over various bits of spare time during travel, and back at home I compiled a list of all the interesting things I did, saw, and eperienced During this past year. So the main event is over a done with. And as I mentioned before, the challenge now lies in making sure these experiences change me for the better.

In conclusion, though I have not seen enough of the world to consider myself knowlegeable, I can conclude that this world is a place in witch we must live each day with eyes wide open. To see everything for what it is, and not hold yourself above anyone.

In a world of seeking people we must understand first,
and then be understood.

My last days of camping were followed with a quick flight back to sydney, and after a day or two there .... it was a thirty hour trip home.

Here are some of the best parts about fraiser Island.

a day of huge spiders...

Was followed by a wierd sun set over the shark infested waters of north Queensland. Hundreds of raven like bats flew over head as everyone joined in a huge soccer game of UK vs. the world. Dispite their bragging and british accents, we beat them good.

THe next day was full of cool stuff.

from swimming in/exploring the champange pools

to climbing cliffs and teaching everyone how to be a stylish Canadian with track pants and beaters. It was good times.

THe flight back to sydney was cheap and un-eventful. I spent the night wandering the city. Impressed with the atmosphere of Frday night in Sydney. IT was midnight and the streets were full of people.. THe next day I did some shopping around Sydney before making the hour long "go train" ride back to Eugene's house To pick up some stuff that I had left there. They wouldn't let me leave again before spoiling me with more incredible food and a much needed night in a good bed.

Thirty hours after arriving at my gate in the Sydney Int. Airport. I had done alot of thinking, as well as making brief stops in Tokyo, Japan and Ancorage, Alaska. My trip was done. Everything planned or un-planned had taken place. I would not be moving to a different town in a couple days. I wouldn't be sleeping with a room full of strangers every night. I would, for a change, be with people I knew. In a town I had been in, and around a thousand times. This was/has been/ and is, a tough adjustment.

The end is near.

Right. So I have not been good at keeping this updated. There is still some good stuff to put on here and the reason I have been so lax in doing so is that I'm home now and I'm finding it hard to find the time. Ha. thats just it isn't it. Back to this busy Western lifestyle. Back to working the 40hr. week. With people always striving for more. I have missed this place. Certian things about it. Since being home I also miss the places I've been. You can bet that I'm not done with the rest of the world.

But, I'll finish Talking about the future when I'm done telling you about the past.

From Surfers Paradise I took a bus and a train up the coast to Brisbane. I spent a couple days there before signing up for a camping trip on the famous fraiser island. This was one of the coolest parts of my trip. Idealy suited for me. A mixture of camping, exploring natural wonders, and chillin with new people. It was great. There was four groups of eight. Each group had camping gear(including some old british army tents) and a Big deisel range rover. No guide, no check points. It was a good time.

A little about Fraiser. The worlds largest sand island, and the only place in the world where rainforest grown on sand. The island has several fresh water lakes bowled in by powder white sand. THese lakes where the place to swim on the island due to the shark colony just off the shore making for a ban on ocean swimming. By the time you add in rainforests, sand blows, red rock, ship wrecks, and champagne pools the scenery is incredible; not to mention the wildlife. From spotting sharks from hundreds of feet above, to bats the size of ravens, huge lizards, and waking up @ 2:00am to look a pair of dingos right in the face. (note: do not try and sleep on the beach near one of the largest dingo colonys in Australia) This was an incredible trip. And just incase you don't believe me.

To drive your 4x4 to you camp site, unload your gas cooker, cold grocceries, and foam sleeping mats onto the already soft sand, then start complaining about how dirty and rough this was going to be had me ready to drag my group to Canada, make them canoe out into the Muskokas and throw them down to sleep on a rock. No appreciation of true camping. The Brits are whiners.
